How to measure

From your first capture to a checked result. Follow the instructions shown in the app for your selected mode.

  1. Prepare the phone and the pile

Use a LiDAR-equipped iPhone, allow camera access and ensure credits are available. Work from a safe position with a clear view of the log ends. Do not climb on timber or enter a loading area to obtain a scan.

  2. Choose your measurement mode

Choose photo measurement for a pile that fits in the frame, walk-by for longer stacks, or individual logs. The capture sequence differs by mode; follow the on-screen guidance.

  3. Capture the timber

Keep the relevant log ends visible and move the phone steadily. Follow distance and alignment warnings in the app. Finish the recording using the app controls.

    Photo

Capture the close-up reference first, then the whole pile as directed by the app. Keep the pile in view and heed the final-photo distance warning.

    Walk-by

Record along the visible face of the pile, keeping log ends in view. Follow the app's alignment and distance guidance rather than assuming you must circle the pile.

    Individual logs

Use the dedicated individual-log mode and complete the capture sequence shown by the app for each log.

  4. Check the detected logs

Open the recording and inspect the detected contours against the photograph. Check the pile envelope and the available 3D view. If the capture is incomplete or obstructed, repeat it before relying on the result.

  5. Confirm lengths and read the result

Enter or verify the log length. Check gross and net volume and any conversion factor used. Diameter and length both affect the calculated volume; do not confuse a β-based estimate with a log-by-log result.

  6. Save and work with your team

Keep the recording on the phone. Pair with your organization to upload scans and review them in the portal. Cloud recovery applies to recordings already uploaded; unsent local recordings are not a backup.
